Brand Video: Nocturnal Wonderland
Role: Creative Producer, Concept/ideation, Script, Casting.

The first Nocturnal Wonderland was held in DTLA in 1995, making it not only the oldest Insomniac festival but also the longest-running electronic music festival in America. Nocturnal focuses on the key elements of family, community, and culture. The following video, Thank You, Headliners, was put together as a thank you to the fans (called “headliners”) who have attended the festival over the years. This was done in celebration of its 21st anniversary. From the initial concept to collaborating with the editor in post, I managed all production aspects. Shot on location during the festival, I oversaw the camera and sound crew, scouted and directed talent.

YouTube Series: Golf Cart Confessions
Role: Creative Producer

Launched in 2015, Golf Cart Confessions is Insomniac’s longest running YouTube video series. Filmed on location at Insomniac festivals around the world, each episodes features DJs being interviewed as they’re driven to the stage to perform. From the initial concept to the final video, I oversee all production aspects. Each episode I curate, book and schedule talent, compose interview questions, manage host, camera/sound crew, and handle day-of-show logistics, scheduling changes, etc. And work with the editor in post. Past guests have included some of the most popular DJs in the world: Steve Aoki, The Chainsmokers, Tiësto and Carl Cox to name a few. This Insomniac fan favorite provides the most intimate, off-the-cuff glimpse you’ll get of that artist life between festival sets.

Event Activation: Immersive Fan Experience
Role: Curation, Project Management

Novalia’s technology adds touch, connectivity, and data to surfaces. They operate in the space between the physical and digital using tactile printed touch sensors to connect people, places, and objects. I worked with founder/CEO Dr. Kate Stone to put together this immersive onsite activation for Insomniac fans to experience during the 20-year anniversary of Nocturnal Wonderland.

Print Magazine: The Insomniac
Role: Content Ideation, Creation & Management

The Insomniac was an annual print magazine given out to Headliners (aka Insomniac fans) for free during Electric Daisy Carnival (commonly known as EDC) in Las Vegas. Designed by Switch Creative Group, content efforts focused on community building, fan engagement, brand loyalty, and super-serving an emotional connection.

Digital Magazine: AfterMag
Role: Content Ideation, Creation & Management

The Insomniac AfterMag was one element of our post-festival coverage that I created. Established to enhance the festival’s “after movie” and to give fans a deeper dive into the high production values and experiences found at each Insomniac event.

Digital Magazine: Insomniac Illustrated
Role: Content Ideation, Creation & Management

Insomniac Illustrated was created as a way to say thanks to fans for being a part of the Insomniac life—and to capture the festival escapades in comic book form. Photo illustrations by Jon Wesley were created by images captured on location at the festival.

BPM Magazine
Role: Editor-in-chief, Associate Publisher & Director of Production

In print from 1996 to 2009. BPM (Beats Per Minute) was an independent magazine publishing original content on dance music and its surrounding culture. Merging with Moonshine Music in June of 2000, BPM then grew into a digital media company, publishing Vapors magazine (acquired in 2002. In print from 2000 until 2006. Vapors was the pre-blog ”bible” for sneaker culture, underground hip-hop, and street art) and C16 Autofiends (an underground magazine and early blog covering import car “tuner” culture and alternative motorsports including drifting and rally). For 13 years I managed and directed operations at BPM. See more covers here.

No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.
